Intuition — Everyone Has It!
The only real valuable thing is intuition. ~ Albert Einstein
Have you ever had a ‘hunch’ or a ‘flash in your mind’ that something would go wrong? And, it did!!! Maybe you had a hunch about not trusting someone or in making a good investment. When you have a strong feeling about something without a logical basis, evidence or direct knowledge, that’s called intuition or your sixth sense.
Everyone Has Intuition
We are all gifted with intuitive abilities; it’s not only reserved for select individuals. Your sixth sense is the connection to something beyond what the five physical senses (sight, sound, touch, smell, hear, taste) and opens you to the world of unseen, unheard or unfelt communications. It’s in developing and trusting information you receive that you make better life choices and reach your goals faster.
Developing intuition is based on learning to pay attention to the information within you. Let’s say you’re trying to make a decision between two job offers. First imagine yourself working in one position and then in the other. The right job choice for you might appear brighter, feel joyful, lighter and filled with inner peace and contentment.
Generally speaking when you are tense or have a sensation of your energy shrinking or condensing, you are subconsciously trying to protect your self-interest, closing down your intuition. When you are in a state of love, bliss, joy, giving, relaxation and expansion, you are open to intuitive information.
Cease trying to work everything out with your minds. It will get you nowhere. Live by intuition and inspiration and let your whole life be Revelation. ~ Eileen Caddy
Whether you are picking lottery numbers, investments or the winning horse at the races, through experience and practice you learn to distinguish between the information from your intuitive knowledge versus your rational mind. Whether it’s business hunches, in sports, in relationships, in every area of your life, you act on your intuition even though you might not have facts.
Some people listen to their good hunches and reap the rewards—like star athletes, coaches, business people, and those who simply live a very full life doing what they love. Other people don’t trust their own hunches or intuition because they are conditioned to look outside, rather than inside, themselves for answers.
Different For Everyone
Insight is a state of being able to see, hear or feel when there is no thought involved. Have you ever had a sudden ‘ah-ha’ strike you out of thin air? The insight came from the realm of your inner silence. Intuitive insights can be perceived in three different ways:
- Clairvoyance or ‘clear seeing’ is when you receive a “flash impression” in your mind. It could be a thought, symbol or color.
- Clairsentience or ‘clear sensing’ is what is referred to as “hunch” or “gut feeling.” When you say, “I just know” and you can’t explain.
- Clairaudience or ‘clear hearing’ is when you pick up a thought and hear it.
Everyone processes information differently and the same is true with intuition. The secret in acquiring intuitive information is in allowing it to emerge into your conscious awareness, having your mind blank, open and receptive like a crystal clear glass. This way, information that is gained is not colored by preconceived notions or emotions.
Intuition is a spiritual faculty and does not explain, but simply points the way. ~ Florence Scovel Shinn
Growing Your Intuition
Having a “hunch” is just a fragment of intuitive abilities. In practicing mediation you expand your intuition and can solve any problem by your inner self. The very nature of ‘feeling’ is intuitive and already knows the answer. Staying happy enhances your intuition and is powerfully attractive. Decisions are easier as you cultivate your sixth sense and as you develop clarity, you can see any situation as it really is.
Unlock Your Sixth Sense
Meditation is just one way of focusing attention on intuition by limiting distraction and allowing the mind to become more aware of the self and of intuitive information. Practice any meditation style that is best for YOU on a regular basis. This refreshes and re-organizes you into a higher state of wellbeing. Releasing emotional baggage, fear and pain that obstruct your heart and mind unlocks your sixth sense. As you let go of those things that stop you from thinking or feeling clearly, your intuitive
hunches ‘pop’. In time, you’ll find this worthwhile as it assists you on your journey to a fulfilling life.
There are many meditation options including:
• Breathing meditations • Mantra meditations • Moving meditations • Clearing meditations • Chakra meditations • Sound healing • Cosmos linking meditations and • Grounding and centering meditations.
If you have NEVER meditated or been ‘successful’ at it, but really want to experience its joy there are alternatives. In your daily schedule, identify typical tasks and incorporate them into a meditation. Time in the shower, mowing the lawn, washing dishes, folding laundry, cleaning, gardening or other tasks that do not require conscious thought are opportunities that can be used to meditate. In time, the ability to meditate for an extended time, during everyday tasks will improve. Meditation during everyday tasks is easy, but like everything else requires practice. Here are some simple steps to follow:
- Clear the mind, focus on breathing.
- Gaze at the tasks with a soft focus.
- View the task as a whole without attempting to notice any detail.
- When thoughts come, make notes.
- Refocus on breathing.
Intuition Experiment in a New Place
Before walking into a building, notice any sensations and be open for intuitive insights. Enter the room and focus on any changes in the body. Is there a sensation of warmth, cold, heaviness, well-being, or unease? What do you notice?
Intuition Experiment With a New Person
In a public location, notice any sensations. Walk around the location, while passing by others or waiting in a checkout line, notice any changes in body sensations. Is there a feeling of comfort, the sensation of a wall between people, or does the skin crawl? Make mental note of any sensations.
Intuition is subtle. The most difficult part is that the harder you try, the harder it becomes. So, relax and let it come. If it is there, it will come. If not, don’t try to force it. With practice and over time, intuitive sensations will become stronger and may include feelings, words, or physical sensations. Whether you experience all or none, be patient.
Simple Intuition Practices
Practicing intuition with subjects that you don’t have any vested interest and the outcome is not important for you. This makes it easier for you to maintain an open state of mind necessary for practicing intuition.
You may try to intuit what someone you are going to meet is wearing, or if the phone rings who may be calling you, or if you are going to some new place, try to intuit how does that place look like before you go there; or you can pick a magazine with pictures and try to intuit what picture or information will you find several pages ahead. In this way you will condition your subconscious mind to provide you with the information that is not ordinarily accessible to you through your physical senses.
Practice, Practice, Practice
Learning any new skill or developing a talent takes time and practice to hone. It’s the same with sharpening your sixth sense. With practice, persistence, consistency and patience, you’ll begin to enjoy peace of mind, wisdom and increased fulfillment. Trusting your sixth sense offers a whole new way to live improving communication, boosting creativity and healing.
The more you trust your intuition, the more empowered you become, the stronger you become, and the happier you become. ~ Gisele Bundchen
Staying happy enhances your intuition and is powerfully attractive. Say YES to your intuition! As you cultivate your sixth sense, decisions are easier and when you come to a crossroads in your life, your intuition will show you what direction you need to take.
